MICK STONE

Personal Profile

Bio Mick Stone.

A little Mick Stone starting shredding at the age of 7. He comes from the inner streets of the south side of Chicago in a neighborhood called Bridgeport where blues guitar and rock meet often. Growing up in a musical and urban family, Mick was able to tap into the industrious landscapes that pump into Chicago’s night sky.

Studying under great teachers like Bob Greb, Mick was able to premier his young talents at 15, playing in neighborhood bars. Learning from local scene master Frank Root, Mick Stone was able to develop his writing skills in original bands while playing in cover bands as well.

The bands “Sunset Empire,” and “Soul Pollution” would be the first big projects where Mick Stone’s writing would be heard as he continued to mature musically.

Mick’s new project called “Strong Arm’” which is next-level writing of an individual who can include his studies Berklee Online as he continues on. Alongside Frantzen amplification we now hear the styling of a man who is raised on music, and ready to burn the fret board.

Rock Musician Portfolio

The feeling of playing guitar live is joy mixed with aggression and a deep release of cathartic emotions. I live for the moment of the amplified sound of rock guitar and the crash of melodic landscapes that sore through the universe. I imagine myself flying through the elements in the songs I create. If it feels like fire, it roars. If it runs like a river or crashes like a wave it will have versatility of water. When the cold wraps you in a blustery frozen hug of a dark night the element of air is present. When playing huge hard rock riffs, an element of earth becomes visible. Music is the true essence of nature and humanity. I believe that nature is beautiful, however it can also be raw and unabashed like a hurricane.

These emotions in writing and composing are what I really love. My pattern starts with my phone to record basic vocals or guitar parts and I build from there. My sleep will be disrupted due to the calling of a song or part and to ensure it has a sense of originality from my past songs and projects. Then I research a new guitar effect that might better exemplify my message in my art. The piece is done when it has its own identity compared to other songs going on an album. The feeling of a finished piece that others like to hear as much as I like to play is the highest creative and emotional release that I have ever experienced. It is true bliss in a form of melody, beat, and rhythm.

When I see people jamming out or closing their eyes and allowing me to make a moment with them is what I enjoy most. I love to watch them enjoy my creation and I like for them to ask questions and explain the music passages that they enjoy most. However, these aren’t the only feelings, just the obvious one in my music.

I have also deep foundational appreciation for acoustic guitar tones and samba alongside bossa nova’s. I enjoy writing with chords and semi-complex melodies. I’m currently working on increasing the chord content and infusing other musical elements into my music. That will be the next level of experimentation. Longer songs and key change’s is the ultimate challenge when laying down an infectious melody for the listener and I to indulge together.
